Everyday with George
I met George a couple of years ago when I began to frequent a local Starbucks in our neighborhood.
He carries an iconic-like presence in this particular store and everyone (I mean everyone) knows him. George has a magnetic personality and a memorable smile. You can tell that he deeply loves life and what he does.
Also, it’s not that difficult to notice him or engage him, especially when his table set up looks like this:
Yes, that’s an iMac that he brings to the store every day!
George is a photographer. In fact, he’s been a photographer for over 40 years!
He’s photographed models, celebrities, and often works for the Lakers. George has a made a career out of his passion.
What’s amazing about George is that he continues to do what he loves EVERYDAY. Rain or shine, George is working on his passion.
George embodies the beautiful merge of passion and discipline that ultimately becomes a lifestyle. Becoming great at something takes an enormous amount of intentional skill-development. This is not possible without focused work….EVERYDAY.
Being just good enough is not that difficult. Becoming great is extremely difficult. George reminds me to strive for greatness and to not settle for good.
Life is too short just to dwell in mediocrity. Our lives are too important not to become the best we can be. In my opinion, this pursuit has very little to do with “making it”. Rather, it’s about fully experiencing the life we were meant to live.
Thanks George for reminding to pursue my passions EVERYDAY!
