Every Time I See A Local Business Closing

It Started with a Dream

Every time I drive by a local business that has closed, I think about the owners who followed their dreams that led to the start of their respective companies. I think about the endless hours they dedicated to their business endeavor because they had an idea they believed was worth implementing. I think about the stress they endured, sacrificed time with family & friends, and the financial risk they took on to follow a passion. I think about all the ups and downs of the business they experienced that have now made them smarter and wiser. I also think about the flood of emotions they must have felt leading to the closure. That couldn't have been easy.

While closing a business is not necessarily a bad thing, I know that each business closure sign has a story behind it. I can respect anyone who rolled up their sleeves to go after something they believed in. While our plans don't always turn out the way we had hoped for, there's much to be gained through the experience (if we choose).

It's Never A Complete "Failure"

No business, even if it closes, will ever be a complete "failure" because more likely than not, owners of these businesses probably made thousands of successful choices that have made them better both in business and life. Yes, business does teach us a lot about ourselves and the world we live in.

Thank You.

If you have ever had to make the difficult choice of closing a business or are considering to do it now, please don't view the experience through the relative lens of success vs. failure. Keep living forward.

Also, thank you for inspiring the rest of us to pursue our dreams.
