The Future of Business & Gaming
I grew up on video games. Yes, classic (or archaic) games like Missile Command, Frogger, and of course, Pac Man (Do you remember “Don’t play this game! Pac Man is better!” stickers?).
Well, a lot has changed since then. Gone are the days where gaming was a side conversation of culture. The gaming industry is expected to eclipse $91 billion in sales by 2015! This is more than the music and movie industries combined today.
Take a few minutes to watch the following TED talk by Tom Chatfield. He does a great job of giving the audience an overview of gaming today and why it is so successful. Chatfield’s insights into data driven interaction, virtual treasures, and human motivation is quite intriguing.
As business and organizational leaders, I think we need to consider the role of gaming dynamics for customer and constituent interface. Gaming can spark creativity and new opportunities for both B2B and B2C interaction.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
