Why I Still Believe in Santa Claus

Creativity, Life Comments (0)

While many downplay the role or existence of Santa Claus during the holidays, I still choose to believe.

Here are some reasons why:

  • Imagination is powerful and something that should be embraced. It propels us from what we think is “real” into the world of the seemingly impossible. It reminds us to ask, “Why not?!”
  • Santa Claus reminds us of the wonder that many of us have buried since we decided to “grow up”.
  • Santa Claus embodies the kind of joy and generosity that all of us could learn from.
  • Santa Claus points us to a pretty amazing historical figure in St. Nicholas and some of his life-giving efforts.
  • Living with a “Just the facts ma’am” attitude is lame. Don’t be that guy…a killjoy. You’re going scare away kids and some of us who parent those kids.
  • Santa Claus may put you on the naughty list if you don’t believe.
  • Lastly, I’m pretty sure I saw him kiss my mother once years ago. :)

“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.” Albert Einstein

“The man who has no imagination has no wings.” Mohammad Ali

“Imagination is at the root of much that passes for love.” Gilbert Parker
