Move Over Extreme Home Makeover – Here Comes the Design Stars!
Tony Kim, my friend and now Executive Pastor at NEWSONG, is an amazing interior designer and the creator of an “Extreme Makeover” kind of ministry called Design Stars.
As described on their website, their mission is “To connect with people making a difference in our community and blessing them by transforming one of their spaces in their home. We want to live out what it means to be a ‘church without walls’ by serving the ’stars’ that so unselfishly serve our community. Our dream is that by creating bold, inspirational living spaces, we can inspire others to live out a bold and inspirational faith..”
Tony believes that ANYONE willing could volunteer to help transform the homes of people who really deserve a tangible expression of God’s love for them. I really love the “bite-size” scale of these projects (All done in less than 2 Days.). You don’t have to demolish an entire house to rebuild it. 🙂 Simply by changing some of the interior of home, many lives are being refreshed and encouraged to hope again!
Tony shared with me during a recent conversation that he would like to see other churches take the concept to serve people in their neighborhoods.
