Creativity as Ethos
Yesterday at New Hope, I shared a message entitled, “Creativity as Ethos – Moving from Doing to Being”. This message highlights the innate gift and potential of creativity present in every human being. Far too often, the creativity that we were born with and cherished during our childhood gives way to the “reality” of adulthood. This is an unfortunate phenomenon of our day and age. This message invites the listener to re-engage the wonder and beauty of creativity by providing several practical insights. My hope is that you will be encouraged and refreshed in your pursuit of living the creative life that God had intended for you.

Great message! Something that needs trumpeted every once in a while.
Very good message, Charles. Ever since I was young, I hated how Christians stole slogans and branding ideas from companies, so it was funny to hear you mention that. I agree that we need to be creative as a church.
What came out of the Idea Camp? Will there be updates and further discussions?
I caught part of a video that had a guy talking about church architecture and it got me thinking. I really get the idea from the creation story that we are supposed to be responsible with this world and the natural resources in it, but I just don’t see it. The church as a whole has some of the biggest buildings around and we heat or cool them all week, just so we can use them for one day of the week (or sometimes a few other days, but only parts of the building). Now I don’t identify myself a hippie, but shouldn’t the church take more care to be “green”?
I’m really not trying to rant, so excuse me if I come off that way, but these were just some of the thoughts that I had. I really enjoy hearing your messages and try to listen to them when I can. Since I work retail, I cannot get to church every week, and the weekends I don’t work are packed so full of the rest of life. Thanks for continuing to be the man that only you can be.
Dan
Thanks guys for the notes!
Dan, glad to hear that you connected at some level to the Idea Camp. I’m assuming then that you’ve visited our Vimeo site. In regards to your question, there are growing number of churches that are going more green. A lot of that has to do with their theology of creation and human responsibility to take care of it. A friend of mine is actually doing a dissertation on environmentalism and the church.
In regards to church life, I’m sure there’s something in your area or even online like Lifechurch.tv that could be a connecting point on weekends you can’t make it out to your church. Let me know if you would like some links to these great ministries.
40 Inspirational Speeches in 2 minutes – love how Swingers and Cool Runnings made the cut.
I truly am inspired.
Good to hear Derrick 🙂
I don’t think your friend’s dissertation would be a “fun read” because dissertations rarely are. I would love to hear his thoughts on the matter though! I have been thinking more and more about how green I should be.
I would love some links if you have them!
Oh, and I thought it was cool that Swingers made the cut, too. I just saw Swingers for the first time about a month ago. I am also inspired!
