Life Is Not Always A Marathon. Sprint!

Want to get something done?

Do it now!

I know…too simplistic.

Oh well, that’s too bad.

Too many people (you know, those “other people”) sit on their ideas for irrational reasons like “It’s not good enough yet.”, “I want to do it right.”, “I need to set aside time to work on this.”, etc.

Here’s the truth… It will never be good enough. It will never be just right. Waiting for time to work on it will never come.

Sorry.

Very few idea-makers I know use long periods of time to move an idea forward. Been working on that book for a couple of years? Still looking to change your profession? Still planning on cleaning your office?

Exactly.

If you want to get things done, get moving on it…TODAY! Determine to undertake your idea in a short period of time (i.e., weeks or a couple months and not years). It may be more difficult in the short run but I promise you’ll get a lot more done if you choose to bear the pain and focus.

Don’t treat your ideas like college term papers (i.e., stressing about how big the task is and then waiting until the last moment to complete it). Unless you have absolutely no development of a concept (which means you have no idea at all), get moving! No one’s stopping you. You can learn if you don’t know how to do something. Your greatest obstacle is the mental block you keep falling back on.

Life is not always a steady marathon. People who get things done know when it’s appropriate to sprint. Well, it’s time…
