You are uniquely you.
No one else in the world has your unique mix of personality, skill-set, and life experiences.
In fact, no one will ever be you even if they had all the time and money in the world to try.
This also means that you cannot become someone else.
(Sorry to break it to you, but you will never become that person you look up to and regularly emulate.)
People will try to change you.
People are going to try to dictate who you are, what you should you do, how you should do it, when it should be done, and why you do what you do.
Some will have pure intentions while others will have ulterior motives as they “speak into your life”.
Be open to their input because most of them mean well, but don’t leave your mind at the door when you enter those conversations.
Keep in mind that you are not ultimately standing before them to give an account for your life.
Be You. Period.
This is not a call to shut out good people from your life. (That would be bad advice.)
This is a reminder to keep things in context and true to the person you were uniquely designed to be.
It’s not about reaching someone else’s potential for your life.
It’s all about stepping up to be the person you were meant to be.
Keep living forward as you
Being you is not an escape clause from doing the hard work.
Being you is a commitment to embrace the perspiration required to live out what you know you ought to be.
Our world needs you as you. We already have many versions of the “other you” that you feel tempted to become.
Life is too short not to be fully you.
