3 Simple Things To Do Before 2011
Yes, there’s only one day left to 2011 (unless you’re in Australia of course)!
Before the clock turns midnight today, I’d like to encourage you to consider doing the following as you prep for 2011:
1. Create Reflective Space
- It may only be for a moment, but still pause and reflect. Our human minds need space to process if we hope to experience progress and growth. Take a few minutes and consider the things you will take away from 2010. I usually flip (or click) through my calendar and/or journal to remind myself of some of the most significant moments of the year that have helped me to become a better person. This is a simple yet profound act.
2. Communicate Gratitude
- Life could be a lot worse and a lot better all at the same time. That’s the nature of human existence. No matter what the situation, there’s probably something or someone we can be thankful for. What or who is this for you? If you’re thankful for something, why not tell someone about it and celebrate together? If you’re thankful for someone specific, take a couple of minutes to give them a call, send them an email, or if you’re adventurous, send them a card with a handwritten note! By doing this, you will not only help yourself but will deeply encourage someone else who probably needs to hear from you anyway.
3. Stay Optimistic
- Although January 1st is technically just another day on the calendar, it does afford us an opportunity to refocus and move forward with a sense of newness. Don’t let the pessimism of some to drown out the potential of this moment. It’s not about a “resolution”. I like to think of it as reflection and commitment to move forward in deep gratitude and hope. Yes, keep the cup half full. 🙂
Cheers to you my friends and may 2011 become the greatest year of your life!
