Presidential Proclamation – National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month
President Barak Obama proclaimed January 2010 as “National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month”. In a press release yesterday from the White House, President Obama emphasized the importance of our country continuing our fight against slavery along with our global community. He urged all Americans to educate themselves about the reality of slavery.
I’m so grateful to live in a country that publicly acknowledges the presence slavery along with its commitment to fight it. The United States has done much to bring awareness and practical help to combat slavery all over the world.
My hope is that people will see that slavery is real and that we must do something to abolish it in our lifetime.
