Ideas for Good Blogging Series (Part 3): Safety Whistles for Haiti
In tent cities around Haiti, many women and children are being violated on a daily basis. A friend recently told me about a new campaign to bring a simple yet effective deterrent to these horrific acts. It comes in the form of a safety whistle.
In partnership with Whistles for Life, my friend is hoping to take a $1000 worth of safety whistles in the next couple of weeks to Haiti. These particular whistles are used by life saving government agencies including the National Association for Search and Rescue and National Safe Boating Council.
This is grassroots project thus this simple fund-raising website (for now). The ultimate need is 30,000+ whistles. They’re hoping to find 100 people willing to donate $10 in the matter of a few days. The result would be several hundreds of families protected.
The official website will follow after they have footage of real stories and the distribution of this first batch of whistles.
Would you consider taking a moment to visit my friend’s website and make a donation towards making tent cities a little safer for those in Haiti?
A simple idea can make a world of difference.
