Collaboration, Not Conquering
It’s not too difficult to sense that things are changing in this new millennium. Many companies and organizations are reconsidering how collaboration with peers (i.e., competition) may be a better alternative to mutual growth instead of the old environment of secrecy, distrust, and conquering. Open-source approaches have been catalytic in various arenas of socio-economic and cultural interaction.
The following is a link to an insightful talk by Howard Rheingold, a writer, artist, theorist and community builder, speaking at a TED conference back in February of 2005 about this very topic. I would enjoy hearing your thoughts about how collaboration could or does affect your field(s) of interest.
