Love how you articulate your thoughts friend. You absolutely right…sometimes cutting things away actually increases profitability & sustainability. Less can be more (sometimes).

I’m just about 1 year in on start-up #2 and #3 in my career. This post was very timely for me. Thanks for the encouragement.

I love this phrase ” thinking through multiple scenarios of outcome.” In my creative design business I had one model that was very effective in getting us off the ground (eg, profitable) but wasn’t sustainable. Rather than doubling down on that strategy and working way too hard for way little money, we killed that line and went to plans b & c to find even more profitability and sustainability.

You’re book has been super helpful to me. I’m not quite done, but I owe you a review!

There are TONS of Starbucks tricks. For example if you Google “Starbucks secret menu” you’ll find all these great drink ideas. Just make sure that you know how to make the drinks so you can explain to the barista when they give you a funny look! I just found this and I’m planning on ordering the “zebra mocha” (half white chocolate half chocolate) tomorrow. They also have more interesting ones, like a “dirty chai” which is a chai latte with a shot of espresso, or a biscotti frappucinno where you buy a bag of biscotti and have them blend it in. Also, they have a “short size” which is only 8 ounces. And if you request they will make your coffee in a French press, any flavor you want. There’s no extra charge, although you really should tip well if you do this.

And here’s a general fast food tip for all the vegetarians out there who are stranded with only a McDonald’s for sustenance–get a Big Mac, hold the patty, cheese and mayo and you have a vegan veggie sandwich on a bun. Although I’d only really do this if I had no other choice.

To me it seems a little ridiculous to buy a tea bag and mix it with your own hot water. Surely there’s a cheaper and more convenient source somewhere for Tazo tea?
